Accommodation on the Farm
In the heart of the Southwest, 11km south of Nannup, nestled between pristine jarrah forest and rolling hills of farm land, Chestnut Cottage is a peaceful rural retreat. Being the original farm house at Chestnut Brae, it’s unique tucked away location offers privacy and tranquillity and is ideal for relaxing, reading, bird watching, bush walking, exploring the south west region, or watching kangaroos and emus at the start and end of each day.
The cottage has pine raked ceilings, slate floor and comprises 2 queen size bedrooms, a separate bunk room with two double bunks complete with all bedding requirements and doonas. It has 1 bathroom with a shower and a spa bath to relax in with luxury handmade soap supplied. In the dining room a beautiful jarrah table and chairs are provided, while in the lounge room there is a double sofa bed where you can snuggle up in front of the wood burning fire to enjoy the ambience of flickering flames during a cosy romantic winter escape. There is a small library of books, board games and Satellite TV. The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, tea and coffee making facilities, four burner gas cooktop and fridge/freezer. There is a gas barbecue alongside the front deck and a Portacot and high chair are available at no charge. All you need to bring is your own food and refreshments.
Panoramic views of the farm can be enjoyed from the upstairs double bedroom and its balcony where it is lovely to sit and chat at the end of the day enjoying your nibbles of chestnuts and a glass of local wine. Our air is so fresh you can smell the freshness. It is a perfect location to sit back, relax and recharge.
The cottage and all rooms are non-smoking. Please remember that this is a working farm, we have three unfenced dams and free range animals, and your children are your responsibility, you must supervise your children at all times.
The cottage is centrally located for wineries, restaurants, Tulip Farm, Lavender Farm, marron farms, Nannup Heritage Trail, Timberline Trail, Taste of Nannup, Munda Biddi Cycle Trail, Harvest Highway, Bibbulmun Track, karri forests, coast and tourist centres.
We do not provide meals, however a selection of cafes and restaurants are 10 minutes drive away in Nannup. Also free range eggs and chestnut fed bacon are available for purchase if you require a hearty breakfast. If you require chestnut fed pork, chestnut fed lamb or roasted chestnuts to be put out of the freezer ready for you to cook or eat when you arrive, please let us know in advance.
The first night’s accommodation will be charged if a booking is cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival.
