It is always a great feeling when customers nominate you for awards. This is what happened to Chestnut Brae when we were nominated to be in the West Australian Community and Regional Awards. To then be told we were in the final three from across the State was an even bigger thrill.
The Awards presentation was held on 20th October in Perth and to be announced as the winner of the Innovation in Agriculture Award is an even bigger thrill.
However, the awards did not go as we had planned, we were supposed to be working in Italy and Poland, then taking a week’s holiday in Estonia before returning to Perth to attend the awards presentation ceremony and dinner. On our arrival In Italy, John had a heart attack, followed by a second heart attack two weeks later, and whilst the awards ceremony was being held he was in intensive care in hospital in central Italy.
Winning the award meant so much to us, but to come at the time it did, it meant even more as it was a huge morale boost for John and Linda as well to spur John along on his road to recovery. We believe awards are great way of developing a business, but these awards meant so much more.
