Blackwood Valley Brewing Company’s (The Cidery, Bridgetown) Blackwood Chestnut Ale has confirmed its reputation as one of the world’s best beers with its second Gold Medal at the 2021 Australian International Beer Awards.
The 2021 Gold Medal is even more significant given that The Australian International Beer Awards are the world’s largest beer competition with over 2,500 entries from 402 exhibitors from 21 countries and are regarded as the global benchmarking platform for breweries across the world.
Blackwood Chestnut Ale has won a medal at every competition entered since its release in 2017 including two Golds, two Silver and two Bronze.
A collaboration between Blackwood Valley Brewing Company and Chestnut Brae Sweet Chestnut Farm, Nannup, Blackwood Chestnut Ale is available at (and on-line) from Blackwood Valley Brewing Company, Bridgetown, and at Chestnut Brae.
Blackwood Chestnut Ale is a full-bodied brown ale that displays subtle nutty and toasted characters with English malts and noble hops. The aromas of toffee and caramel combined with the unique roast chestnut flavour make it a distinctive luxurious ale to be enjoyed on its own or with fine food.
Blackwood brewer Mark Hollett said, “this Gold Medal at the world’s largest beer competition is fantastic acknowledgement by our peers that our Blackwood Chestnut Ale is world class. We are proud that our Blackwood Chestnut Ale puts historic Bridgetown on the international beer lovers map for a must visit destination.”
Blackwood Valley Brewing Company is making a name for itself as a brewer of international award-winning innovative ales with its Blackwood Truffle Ale, hand crafted in collaboration with The Truffle and Wine Company, Manjimup, also winning a Bronze Medal at the 2021 Australian International Beer Awards, having previously won two Silver and two Bronze awards.
